How do you prepare the base for paver installation?
Proper base preparation is the most important part of a paver installation, and the part that separates a job that lasts 20 years from one that heaves and settles in three. We excavate to proper depth, compact the subgrade, install adequate compacted gravel base, and bed sand of the correct depth and type before pavers go down.
Will my pavers heave or settle in Long Island winters?
Not if they are installed correctly. Long Island freeze-thaw cycles are tough on hardscape, improperly installed pavers heave because water gets into a poorly prepared base. We use the correct base depth and drainage planning for Long Island soil conditions. Properly installed pavers handle our winters without movement.
